On April 10, the Second Member Representative Conference of the Composite Materials Alumni Association of Wuhan University of Technology was held in 201 of the Conference Center of our school. Vice President Wang Fazhou, Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering Mai Liqiang, Vice Deans Huang Xuehui and Wen Zuoqin, Deputy Director of the Social Cooperation and Alumni Affairs Office Lu Shaoping, and representatives of members of the Composite Materials Alumni Association, teachers and students of the school participated in the conference. The meeting was chaired by Li Han, a 2004 alumnus of the Composite Materials major.

Dean Mai Liqiang introduced the development of the School of Materials and the discipline of Materials Science and Engineering, and expressed his gratitude to the alumni of Composite Materials for their support to the school in talent training, scientific research cooperation, construction of student internship and training bases, and joint fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chen Yawei, the last president of the Composite Materials Alumni Association, gave a work report. He reviewed the achievements of the Alumni Association since its establishment in strengthening the organizational structure, assisting the Alma Mater in talent training, and focusing on the transformation of scientific research results. He also proposed the next work plan of the Alumni Association from three aspects: improving the collaborative work model, connecting with major industry needs, and establishing a mechanism for co-construction, sharing, and co-prosperity.
Wang Jihui, Secretary General of the Composite Materials Alumni Association and Professor of the School of Materials, reported on the preparations for the change of term. Lu Shaoping, Deputy Director of the Social Cooperation and Alumni Affairs Office, read out the "Approval on the Change of Term of the Composite Materials Alumni Association of Wuhan University of Technology". Subsequently, the conference elected the new directors, executive directors, honorary president, president, vice president, secretary general, and deputy secretary general of the Composite Materials Alumni Association.
The newly elected president, Liu Zhijun, made a speech on behalf of the association. He promised to lead the alumni association to always care about the development of the alma mater, take root in the composite materials industry, gather great strength, and strive to contribute to the growth of composite materials alumni and the development and progress of the national composite materials industry!
Vice President Wang Fazhou issued letters of appointment and flags to the new members of the Composite Materials Alumni Association. In his concluding speech, he pointed out that the alma mater has cultivated alumni, and alumni have also made the alma mater. The majority of alumni have gathered tremendous strength for the construction and development of the school's composite materials engineering major. The school will adhere to the "full cycle, full range, and all-round" alumni work concept, continuously strengthen the communication and contact between the alma mater alumni, continue to create new glory for the work of the Composite Materials Alumni Association, set a new example for the construction of professional alumni associations, and jointly achieve the "science and engineering dream" of building a distinctive world-class university, and jointly contribute to the realization of the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
After the meeting, member representatives visited the Nanhu Library's "Paying tribute to anti-epidemic heroes and celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party" exhibition of calligraphy and painting works by 100 generals of the Republic and the art gallery.
It is reported that the Composite Materials Alumni Association is the first alumni association established by Wuhan University of Technology based on a major. Since its establishment in 2008, it has been rooted in the composite materials industry and has always been concerned about the development of its alma mater. Relevant companies or individuals have established 16 scholarships and grants in the school, with a total of 5.059 million yuan distributed, and 2,888 students have received awards or grants. It has facilitated cooperation between the alma mater and composite materials companies, signed more than 20 scientific research projects of various types, and accumulated more than 50 million yuan in funding. It has explored and practiced the alumni association operation model of the "industry-alumni-school" development community, effectively supporting the school's talent training and construction and development.
