Dow's one-component acrylic emulsion MAINCOTE™ IC-1002 is a hydrophobic product specially developed for thermal insulation coatings. This product has excellent compatibility and bonding with low thermal conductive pigment fillers commonly used in thermal insulation coatings, such as glass microspheres and aerogels. The thermal insulation coating formulated based on this product has high volume pigment concentration (PVC) and volume solid content, while having low viscosity, and can be constructed using a spraying process to achieve ultra-high film thickness. The formula contains extremely low VOC and is an environmentally friendly thermal insulation material.

01 Basic parameters:

02 Performance characteristics:

03 Excellent pigment adhesion and bonding strength:

Under the same formula conditions, the effects of MAINCOTE™ IC-1002 emulsion (left) and a commercial competitor emulsion (right) after adding glass microspheres and aerogel are compared.

04 Excellent high-thickness non-cracking performance:

05 Excellent protection and water resistance:

Note: The composite coating includes anti-corrosion primer WEP-10 (55 microns) + IC-1002 thermal insulation coating (1200 microns) + HG-130 reflective thermal insulation topcoat (60-80 microns)

06 Recommended Applications:

Industrial thermal insulation coatings, application areas include storage tanks, containers, high-speed railways and transportation vehicles, various pipelines, etc.
