ANTI-TERRA-203
Industry:
Composite material,Adhesive
Function:
Wetting and dispersing agent
Classification:
Products
Product Details
Features and Benefits
This additive works by controlling the flocculation of the pigment. This controlled flocculation also prevents sagging, pigment settling and floating. Unlike ANTI-TERRA-203, ANTI-TERRA-204 is also suitable for non-polar systems (compatible with petroleum solvents). The lower the polarity, the stronger the thixotropy. Suitable for long, medium and short oil alkyd, polyvinyl chloride copolymers, chlorinated rubber and epoxy systems. When used in anticorrosive primers, it often improves the anticorrosive properties.
Recommended applications
Especially recommended application areas: industrial coatings, wood and furniture coatings, anti-corrosion coatings.
Recommended applications: architectural coatings.
Recommended Dosage
Additive dosage (as purchased) based on pigment:
Inorganic pigments: 1-2%
Titanium dioxide/filler: 0.5-1 %
Bentonite: 30-50%
The above data are empirical dosages, and the optimal dosage needs to be determined through a series of tests.
Joining method and processing instructions
For best performance, the additive should be added to the grind before the pigment is added. The additive can be used to repair a coating that has already developed problems, but its effectiveness will be reduced in this case.
Recommended formula of bentonite slurry:
85-87 parts by weight solvent
10 parts by weight bentonite
5-3 parts by weight of additives
The solvent may be an aromatic solvent or a petroleum solvent containing aromatics, or a solvent gasoline containing no aromatics. If the gelling effect is insufficient, a polar solvent may be added to enhance the gelling effect.
Special attention
In coatings based on nitrocellulose, chlorinated rubber or polyvinyl chloride copolymers, these additives may cause discoloration. In silicate coatings, they shorten the working time. At higher addition levels, the working time and curing reaction of epoxy systems may be impaired. The high amine value of these additives can lead to an increase in the viscosity of epoxy resins.
SMC, BMC, Pultrusion
Features and Benefits
The additive works by controlling the flocculation of the filler and is mainly used to prevent the filler from settling.
Recommended applications
Particularly recommended application area: Pultrusion.
The additive is suitable for all pultrusion resin systems including unsaturated polyesters, vinyl esters, acrylics and epoxies.
Recommended Dosage
0.5-1.5 % additive dosage (as purchased) based on filler
The above data are empirical dosages, and the optimal dosage needs to be determined through a series of tests.
Joining method and processing instructions
For best performance, this additive should be added to the grind first, before adding pigments and fillers.
Room temperature curing system
Features and Benefits
This additive works by controlling the flocculation of fillers and flakes, primarily to prevent particle settling. ANTI-TERRA-204 allows for a more uniform distribution of fillers and flakes in acrylic systems. This additive prevents settling, resulting in a smoother, more uniform surface structure in systems using flakes.
Recommended applications
Especially recommended for acrylic systems (PMMA in MMA).
Recommended Dosage
0.5-1.5 % additive dosage (as purchased) based on filler
The above data are empirical dosages, and the optimal dosage needs to be determined through a series of tests.
Joining method and processing instructions
For best performance, the additive should be added to the grind first, then to the powder.
