Product Details
Applications
Room-temperature curing systems
Features and benefits
BYK-R 607 is a thixotropic enhancer that improves the thixotropic properties of hydrophilic fumed silica or bentonite. It strengthens the thixotropic network structure and ensures that the thixotropic network does not break after the addition of amine curing agents. BYK-R 607 enables hydrophilic fumed silica or bentonite to be used alone in two-component epoxies. When BYK-R 607 is used, it is not necessary to add hydrophobic fumed silica to the resin system and hydrophilic fumed silica to the curing agent to obtain thicker films. The additive should be added to the curing agent. The natural increase in viscosity is achieved through hydrogen bonding between BYK-R 607 and the thixotropic agent. Formulators can now use inexpensive hydrophilic fumed silica or bentonite without sacrificing their application properties. This reduces the cost of raw materials and improves the quality of the product.
Recommended use
Epoxy resin systems
Recommended dosage
The dosage is based on 20-80% of the hydrophilic fumed silica or bentonite in the system
The above recommended dosages are intended as an approximate range and the optimal dosage can be obtained through a series of laboratory tests.
Incorporation and processing instructions
It is recommended to add BYK-R 607 to the amine hardener. If the amine hardener already contains hydrophilic fumed silica or bentonite,
please consider this when calculating the dosage.
Special note
BYK-R 607 is only effective when used in combination with hydrophilic fumed silica or silicic acid bentonite. The dosage varies depending on the type of hardener.
